If you have ever felt like you are being watched, followed, or targeted, you know that the world can suddenly feel like a very hostile place. This support is for anyone who has had their privacy and safety violated and is now living in a state of constant hyper-vigilance. You might find yourself checking locks multiple times, obsessively monitoring your digital security, or feeling a jolt of panic every time your phone rings. When someone else tries to take control of your life through harassment, it leaves a lasting mark on your nervous system that makes it hard to feel relaxed anywhere.

This is also for those who feel that their sense of freedom has been stripped away. You might have stopped going to the gym, changed your route to work, or pulled back from social media just to stay under the radar. If you feel like your life is being dictated by the actions of another person and you want to reclaim your sense of agency and peace, we work on settling that "threat response." The goal is to help you feel secure in your own skin and your own home again, moving from a state of fear back to a state of freedom.

Description

When you have been affected by stalking or harassment, your sense of security is fundamentally violated, often leaving you in a state of constant high alert. The Human Givens approach recognises that your brain is naturally trying to protect you by staying hyper-vigilant, but this state makes it nearly impossible to think clearly or feel at peace. In our sessions, we prioritise immediate stabilisation by using techniques to lower your physical stress levels and calm the nervous system. We will look at how this experience has disrupted your essential needs for safety and privacy, and we will work on practical ways to help you feel more grounded in your daily life.

The second part of our work involves processing the intrusive memories or the ongoing dread that these experiences create. I use specific, non-intrusive methods to take the "fright" out of the memories of past incidents so that they no longer trigger a panic response in the present. This allows you to regain your cognitive resources, helping you make rational decisions about your safety and boundaries without being clouded by overwhelming fear. The goal is to help you move from a state of victimhood to one of empowered resilience, where you can focus on your future and restore a sense of normalcy to your life.

What I offer:

Hyper-vigilance Reduction: We will use guided imagery to help your brain distinguish between past threats and your current environment.

Safety Planning Clarity: I will help you lower your emotional arousal so you can make calm, logical decisions regarding your physical security.

Trauma Neutralisation: Using the 'Rewind' technique, we can strip the emotional charge from specific incidents of harassment.

Reclaiming Space: We will work on techniques to help you feel mentally and emotionally "at home" in your body and your surroundings again.

Restoring Agency: We will also focus on the areas of your life you still control to combat feelings of powerlessness.

Social Confidence: Building strategies to help you re-enter public or social spaces without the constant fear of being watched is also a key step.
