Post Natal Recovery

Who this is for:

This is for new parents who find that the "baby bliss" they were told about feels more like a mountain of anxiety, guilt, or exhaustion. You might be struggling with frightening thoughts that you're ashamed to talk about, or perhaps you feel a strange sense of numbness where you expected to feel a bond. If you had a birth experience that didn’t go to plan and you find yourself replaying it over and over, or if you simply feel like your old self has disappeared and you don't know how to navigate this new version of your life, you are in the right place.

It’s also for those who feel completely overwhelmed by the responsibility and the constant "high alert" that comes with a newborn. If you are struggling to sleep even when the baby is sleeping because your mind won't switch off, or if you feel isolated and unsupported in your new role, we can help. This is about lowering that intense pressure and helping you find your feet, so you can actually start to enjoy your family and feel like a capable, confident parent.

Description

The transition into parenthood is one of the most significant life changes you will ever experience, and it is natural to feel overwhelmed by the shift in your identity and daily reality. In our work, we look at how the demands of a new baby can sometimes make it difficult to meet your own basic emotional needs for sleep, security, and connection. If you are struggling with postnatal depression or anxiety, we will focus on calming the high levels of emotional arousal that cause these feelings. By identifying the specific areas where you feel unsupported, we can create a practical plan to stabilise your mood and help you feel more capable and confident in your new role.

Our sessions provide a space to process the birth experience and any unexpected emotions that have surfaced since the arrival of your child. I will use gentle, effective techniques to lower your stress and address any intrusive thoughts or fears that may be hindering your bond with your baby or your partner. The aim is to help you regain your confidence and mental clarity so that you can adapt to and enjoy this period of life rather than just enduring it. You will gain a set of reliable tools to manage the ups and downs of parenthood, ensuring you have the emotional resilience to care for both yourself and your family.

What I offer:

Resource Management: We will look at practical ways to get your basic needs met despite the demanding schedule of a new baby.

Calming Intrusive Thoughts: I will provide tools to lower the high anxiety that often manifests as frightening "what if" scenarios.

Bonding Support: By reducing your overall stress levels, we can clear the emotional space needed to foster a healthy connection with your child.

Role Transition: We will also work on reconciling your previous identity with your new role as a parent to reduce feelings of loss or overwhelm.

Birth Trauma Resolution: If you had a difficult delivery, we can use the Rewind technique to process the event so you can move forward.

Expectation Management: We will also work on dismantling the "perfect parent" myths that contribute to postnatal guilt and exhaustion.
